October Mood

Suddenly, fall has arrived. It hit me this morning as I drove across town for a hair appointment and a brisk wind swirled an assortment of fallen leaves across the pavement in front of my car. The still-saturated asphalt had that unique first-rain-of-the-season smell. I rolled down my window and breathed it in. I've been in a major funk these past couple weeks, but in this moment as I slowly exhaled, I felt hopeful and invigorated. As Anne of Green Gables famously declared, "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers."

Speaking of Anne, I've been enjoying watching season two of Netflix's Anne with an E. It makes me want to pull out all of my favorite books from when I was a kid and reacquaint myself with the bold heroines who once gave me confidence in my young voice and helped shape me into the woman I am today. These days, I could really use some Anne in my life. Anyone else feel me? It's funny how this time of year always manages to simultaneously inspire nostalgia yet also feel like a new beginning.

This post is the first in a new monthly series I'm starting. At the beginning of each month, I'll be sharing a mood board with some images I'm feeling inspired by along with some thoughts and plans that I'm looking forward to in the upcoming month.

October To-Do's & Things To Look Forward To

- Less screen time, for the sake of my mental health and my dog's. ;)

Happy October, friends! Wishing you well! xx
