Over the weekend, my brother got engaged to his high school sweetheart in Santa Barbara! Both families worked together to light one hundred candles on the beach, setting the scene for the proposal. Hiding behind some rocks about fifty yards down the beach, I couldn't help but tear up seeing my little brother get down on his knee and open up this new chapter of his life. The proposal is such a special moment, so quiet and sacred before the exciting whirlwind of wedding planning descends. So thankful I got to be there, and so excited for a reason to celebrate! Congratulations to Michael and Larissa!

The happy glow of a newly engaged couple is just priceless. I love hearing people's proposal stories. One of my best friends got engaged in a hot air balloon last year. What's the best proposal story you've heard? (Even better if it happened to you!)

    1. Thanks, Lauren! It really was so pretty in person. I'm pretty excited about having an excuse to obsess over weddings all over again! :)

  2. Congratulations to your brother!! And two other random points: a) we used those toasting flutes at our wedding, and b) I love Holdrens.

    1. Britty: Thank you, and how funny! I had never been to Holdrens before, but I loved it! Our food was delicious, and it seemed like a fun place to hang out. If I lived in SB, I'm sure I would go there more often!

  3. Congrats to Michael and Larissa! Goodness, 2012 is full of happy times and great memories are to be made! I would think that everyone's proposal story is the best one ever because each one is special to the couple. Each proposal is unique to each relationship and where an extravagantly well-thought-out proposal is the most romantic to one couple, the simplest proposal means the world to another. So, with that being said, I would say my proposal was the best ever. He proposed at the airport when I landed! It couldn't have been more perfect!

A close runner-up though, my brother proposed to his wife on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland as they were passing the treasure room. He reached out as if he were grabbing the gold and presented her with the ring right there on the ride. The whole boat cheered! So sweet :)

    1. Cassie: I don't think I've ever heard your brother's proposal story before! That is so funny! Must have been so sweet to be one of their fellow boat passengers on that ride! :)
