Interior Design Bingo -- Day 3: Storage

Photobucket

When I hear the term "storage," I think closets.  So, for day three of the Interior Design Bingo challenge, I thought it would be a fun opportunity to share a story about my current "closet" situation.  As you can see, it is a little bit out of the ordinary.

My husband and I currently live in the basement of a home that was built in the 1800's.  Due to the heavy rain we experienced all summer long in this part of the country, including Hurricane Irene, we dealt with some flooding and resulting mold problems that destroyed half of my wardrobe... and most regrettably, shoes. For about a month and a half now, I have been dealing with dry cleaners, cobblers, and insurance agents, and although my closet has been cleaned, I am just not comfortable putting my stuff back in there and risking the items I saved being damaged. Since our place doesn't have any other closets, I created a temporary one out of boxes and set it up in our dining room. And since we are moving in six weeks, I'm trying to make the best out of the situation and consider myself already packed! I have to admit though, I really look forward to having a real closet again... And someday, I would absolutely love to turn the below inspiration into a reality and repurpose a beautiful piece of antique furniture into a shoe closet! A girl can dream, right? :)

My dream closet would be a walk-in (I've never had one before) with the above shoe display case, little cubbies to hold my handbag collection, and all matching velvet hangers! What would your dream closet look like?
