Adventures in New York City

A couple weeks ago, our close friend from high school, Julianne, came out to visit us! Of course we showed her around Maryland, but one morning, we got up bright and early... like, still dark outside early, and took the train from Baltimore to New York City. (Julianne's first ever trip to NYC!) Our itinerary wasn't even close to being trendy or cultured or anything, so I don't expect anyone to be impressed.  But I thought I'd share some of my favorite photos with you! And remember that promise I made to post photos when I wore my Target for Missoni finds?  Well since I'm still not quite sure how to pose for outfit photos without feeling totally awkward, consider this post two birds with one stone!

Day One was our "Midtown Day." We did Times Square, family style Italian at Carmine's, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Plaza, New York Public Library, Grand Central Station, and of course my favorite: dessert at Serendipity 3! Lots of walking, lots of rain, lots of fog... But gosh, do I love New York! :) (Also, we totally saw Beck at the MoMA... random!?)

Day Two was our "Downtown Day." We woke up, got Starbucks, took the Subway down to South Ferry Station, where we explored Battery Park and took the free Staten Island Ferry.  From there we headed to the Financial District/Wall Street/The World Trade Center site.  Then we walked up Broadway, stopping in SoHo, Greenwich Village, and Strand Bookstore along the way!  After all that, it was definitely time to call it a day. But not without finding time for some late night snacks at Shake Shack! ;)

Day Three was our "Uptown Day." We took a leisurely walk through and around Central Park stopping for some highlights, like the Central Park Zoo and people/dog watching.  And although we didn't have enough time to enjoy the museums on this trip, I thought Julianne at least had to see them. We also enjoyed walking around the Upper East Side, making a stop by the brand new Madison Avenue location of Laduree... only to find an hour long wait to get in! Sorry, Laduree, not this time.  But we'll always have Paris! ;) We topped the night off with a trip to the top of the Empire State Building, and then headed back to Penn Station, and later on... Baltimore.

As far as tourist locations in New York go, I like to think we did a pretty thorough job in our three days! Every time I leave New York, I almost shed a tear due to my sadness that I don't live there. What a wonderful city, and a positive vibe unlike any other city in the world! Can't wait till next time!
