Happy Birthday, Blog!!

Photobucket

Today my little blog, Bricolage, turns one year old! When I wrote my first post, on September 20, 2010, I had no idea what I was in for.  After blogging for Weddingbee, I guess I wasn't ready to stop talking.  When I started Bricolage, I didn't even have a plan for what I would talk about.  So my first few months here were a little confused, but over time, this has turned into my very own positive little corner of the Internet, where I can focus on the good things in life.  I've shared so many beautiful ideas, places, and objects that inspire me, and here and there, have even found myself musing on my adventures as a twenty-something newlywed suddenly transplanted 3,000 miles from home.

Sometimes, friends and family have stumbled across this blog and wondered why I don't share more about my daily life.  And the truth is, although coming from a blogger, this may sound like a paradox, I am an extremely private person.  I never intended for this blog to be my tell-all diary.  (I already have one of those!)  I find myself talking about fashion so often because it's something I've genuinely loved throughout my life, and an industry I've felt so passionate about, yet I've never had anyone to share it with. Most people I've known in real life find fashion to be shallow  and superficial. It's just been wonderful to discover that there are people out there who don't feel that way.  As a kid/teenager, I dreamed of growing up to be the next Anna Wintour.  Since my life obviously hasn't followed that path, I may not have Vogue, but at least I have my blog! :)

So... just for fun, looking back over this past year, my top five posts were:

1. Dear Blair Waldorf...

2. Winter Coat Roundup

3. The Royal Wedding

4. Time to Decorate!

5. What Would I Wear... to Kate Moss' Wedding?

Serendipitously, today my little blog officially reached 20,000 views! I'm well aware that many blogs get at least that many hits each day, but considering that Bricolage had 140 views in September 2010 and about 4,000 in September 2011, I'm pretty pleasantly surprised!  To celebrate my blog's birthday, I would love to share some cake with you all and give away tons of free stuff! And hopefully one day that day will come... but for now, I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading along! I am sure that there's no blog out there with more fabulous followers!

*Now raise your glasses!* To year two! May it be even better than year one!!

xoxo, Bri
